This is NOT http://www.intel.com/museumofme/r/index.htm
Let me know in the comments below - what do you think of Museum of Me - comments due Nov 12.
Intel's The Museum of Me that creates and explores a visual archive of someone's social life could be a great tool, a great business idea. I understand also their intention to not formulate the above phrase ending as someone's "virtual" social life. Because even if I still believe that there's a big difference between the "virtual" and "real" social life, web developers, IT corporations and social network users (should/forced to/will) continue to follow the tendency of (developing tools for/exposing their) social life on the internet…
ReplyDeleteHere are my impressions about it:
ReplyDelete+ "Museum of me" is beautifully designed and thoroughly thought, the transitions are very fluid and the application is very convincing in its portrayal of a 3D virtual museum. I also like the uplifting music and the additionnal characters/visitors, who oddly seemed to be extremely interested in the exhibition of my life.
- However, the pictures of my friends and I were randomly selected, and not the most relevant. The "words" which were supposed to be representative of me were also quite uninteresting (e.g. "is", "youtube"). Furthermore, I am not sure what is the use for this gadget,as it might be the most narcissistic application I have ever seen. I wouldn't want any of my life to be part of a "real life" exhibition, thus do not see the point for it to be virtual either.
But I may not be the best critic, as I am not very fond of sharing my private life on the internet.
? Last but not least, when I subscribed to this application, it was indicated that "Museum of me" would be able to post messages and pictures on my Facebook wall, and do a lot of other things that I find a little bit too instrusive. I wonder whether the information that was extracted from my Facebook account to "Museum of me" could be re-used by marketers for unknown purposes ...
Even though the title "museum of me" is quite relevant, I was not expecting that kind of application. I have to say I was quite surprised and amazed at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI think this appli shows how much "narcissic" our society can be! I think it also depends on how much you're involved into facebook.
As far as I am concerned, i am not really deep into facebook.. I just have some private album that I only share with my closest friend but that might be another endless debate.
The thing is that I simply don't like to share my life with all the "friends" I have on facebook (so yeahhh here comes the time to say google + for president ;) ) ...Facebook is not a tool I appreciate so...
Anyways, to be more concrete, i think this application is really tremendously designed (3D) and the music is very well chosen. We're here in snapshot of your life that can only make you smile ! It's funny, entertaining. Useless also but so many applications have been created on facebook that it’s not surprising !
WOW!!! First of all, the website is absolutely AMAZING :) I am really impressed by the quality of the images, the words and the music and how synchronized everything is... generally it is really amazing.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I look at the website, I feel like I am learning more about myself, as it (the pictures...) is put in such a way, it feels like I am an outsider learning about myself. It is incredible, how advanced this is and how different you see yourself after using the website.
To summarize, the quality of this website is spectacular, and I am still in shock (positive, of course!) to all the different ways such technology can be used and how much I am finding out about new and interesting methods to communicate through the internet!
In my opinion Intel's The Museum of Me is very well designed and impressive when it comes to fluidity, 3D and music. The video has an amazing quality and I thought I was in a real museum.
ReplyDeleteBut I hope I won't shock anyone saying how pretentious it is ! Who are we have to have our own museum ? Ok it's just a simple application to have fun but I don't recognized myself or my life in a huge and modern museum. Moroever I'm not a huge fan of facebook I have maybe 100 friends and I don't put or share a lot of things on it.
For me this museum is artificial just like our social life it's fake and useless. But it's true that it's an amazing proof of technology and modernity for Intel. And I'm sure that people who like facebook and all this "virtual social life" concept will love it.
So for Intel this is a pretty clever tool to developp their notoriety towards young people. I think it's an efficient strategy to target a particular part of the society that will of course be found of Intel's computer and technology.
Well, the design is great but I think that this kind of application is just useless.
ReplyDeleteI'm not confortable with sharing my informations with everybody even if it's supposed to be "private". I've got many "friends" (489)on facebook but most of them don't have access on my full profile.
The music is stressful and drives me crazy. So, To be frank, I just don't see the point.
The application needs the access to all my personal information and asks for the right to publish under my name on facebook! I dislike this kind of intrusive process, and the perspective of making a museum of me doesn't excite me much. I would be more interested in a museum of others as I see myself everyday in the mirror and that is far enough for me! lol

I think that the application "The Museum Of Me" is not really interesting because the information selected by the site is not representative. I agree with "Tuan", the words chosen for the wall are really taken randomly.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless this gadget is very well done in terms of graphics and design.

First of all, this application make me laugh ...
ReplyDeleteThere's no interest to create a such museum so easily !! I pr
efer create page by page a kind of book, with some pictures of my REAL friends ( Not the 500 friends on facebook)!! That will be more personnal ...
However a museum on myself will be not my first idea.
This 3D version is interesting , it's a nice method to present some project... for exemple in the professional life ( without this music of course)
Anyways, that shows very well the ravages of FACEBOOK !! The human being prefer observ people through a social network!!
No more places for a real dialogue between us !!
I was so surprised when I downloaded the application! I really didn't expect to find my "social facebook profil" bring together.
ReplyDeleteOn the one hand, I found that so boring and totaly useless. I even didn't recognize myself in the museum. That's just a waste of time. But maybe it's a good metaphore to mean what facebook really is, for some people who spread out their entire private life... just a museum of themselves!
Nethertheless, on the other hand, if we talk about the I-tech point, it's amazing to see how you can, in such a short time, regroup so much information and create a world with it. As Gillian say, it could be useful to present some professional project because it's lively and interactive!
I think that « Museum of me » is totally in the line of social networks and digital trends. The design is really amazing, and it’s quite impressive to get such a result after only 5 minutes downloading. So technically it’s a great performance, I‘m just thinking about the thousands of hundreds codes behind all that, the hours spent to develop this application… Crazy!
ReplyDeleteThe content is randomly your facebook pictures and videos, so not necessarily the ones you would have chosen to show up first, but computers are not that clever yet!
I enjoyed visiting this website, it’s quick, it’s fun. It tries to play with your feelings and emotions about your friends and your life in general, depending on your mood it may works!
Thank you for sharing the link, nice experience! Companies are going far and far in digital creativity… what will be next?
The Museum of Life is a creative idea and a beautiful application. It is very well designed and worked out. In terms of technology, it is absolutely impressive!
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, to be honest, I am always kind of suspicious about all these applications asking for permission to recover my personal information from Facebook.. I do not really know if the privacy policy is respected or our personal data stays somewhere afterwards… All that brings me to the idea of how transparent our lives are becoming with the social media development. But is it such a positive change?
I just love it, it was a great journey and enjoyed it very much just seeing my life and friends in a very magical way. Museum of me is a great application and I'm sure everyone could use it and just like leave a magical time. Whoever has facebook they all use different and various applications which I also have used but I guess this one is the best one I've seen.
ReplyDeleteI really don't like this application. As far as the elements are approximatively selected, there are not especifically interesting. Most of the pictures i saw were of people i didn't recognize... I also find this application extremely narcissic... "MUSEUM of ME"... what an idea !The music is stressful and watching pictures of me makes me feel uncomfortable... However, i must admit that the idea is original and the project well realized...
ReplyDeleteIn my point of view, it is a really innovative idea, BUT i feel not comfortable with this application, for me, it is only useful if you want to get into the private life of people! To put comments on behalf of the person is unbelievable and terrible. This application frightens me more than it pleases me...
ReplyDeleteI join the various opinions of my collegues on this application. This could be a really cool concept to have a bit of narcisism but the fact that we have to allow the access to facebook and other things is not at all pleasant. Despite the fact that photos and words are selected randomly, we don't know what happen with all the photos used by the application on the creator server.
ReplyDeleteThis is not paranoia, it's safety !
The concept could be improve by choosing the way of self-customization for the photo selected, music etc...
I can understand the reason to take from the internet (saving time and memory) but I say no to Small Big Brother :)
I didn’t have any idea about “The Museum of Me” application. When I entered into “my museum” I must confess my sense of surprise in seeing my pictures around me! I felt a strange emotion in watching my “facebook life” shown in a 3D museum as it was.. a sort of description of my real life!!! In fact, my surprise had suddenly changed into a sense of detachement as I soon realised that it just represented a selection of “virtual frameworks” .. and I also realised that it was an unreal selection.
ReplyDeleteWhile I was watching my profile’s exhibition I thought about how my facebook “friends” can have different perceptions of me through my facebook profile.
First of all, because of an explicit name "Museum of me", I was rather reticent to use it knowing that it works with facebook, a social network that I don't use much. But, in fact that I only have close friends in it whose target me in pictures and videos even if I'm not on them, I have been agreeably surprised because I felt plunged in a good atmosphere reminding me that I really have good friends and that's from years! "Thanks "Museum of me" you wasn't really focusing on "my self" as I thought by reading your name at the beginning". Good choice of music and even if the pictures and video was picked randomly, you caught the good ones! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the picture and the slogan I was not interesting by this application because I thought that it can show my private life.
ReplyDeleteThen, when I have accessed to the application on Facebook, I appreciate the concept, it is amazing... I was impressed by the music, pictures and words, they convey a great emotion.
The pictures of me, my friends and my family were randomly selected but there were the good ones.
I think that it is a good business idea to create an application like this. It is a really museum of me but personally I did not like to share my personal life to everyone like this.
First of all, I think that the person who set up this is a kind of "genius". I know that nowaday almost everything can be done but My first impression was: "Waooouuuuh it's an amazing creation with a lot of technology!!"
ReplyDeleteIn my point of view I was really impress by this presentation of myself.I know myself, and I know who I am but this tool is so releveant, it permits me in few seconds to have a global view of my life, my friends, my hobbies...
So I think that in a professional point of view it can be a great tool which help people to know instantly who we are. To me "Museum of me" will be an add value for my company or for my project.
At the beginning, when i tought about "Museum of me", i believed it was someone narcissistic who wanted to show to everyone who he is and what is he doing. what could be rewarding depend of the topic but also boring, and whitout any interest. But finally, when i watched it,and i saw my name and my pics, i realized how i am surprized by the concept of this project and by the amazing design of this video. Using facebook and our details to transcribe our life on this video, it's impressive. this tool by its originality make everyone special, and permit us to have a global vision of our life or the one of our friends. However, even if it's agreat idea, according to my personality, i will not use it because i don't want that someone see a video about me, i prefer people discover me in face to face!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, it's very interesting to see the progress of the new technology, internet and all that follows.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, it's fun to see his own pictures in the museum.
I think the music is not in accordance with the place.
I'm sure that people who like facebook, twitter and all this virtual social life concept will love this web site, this link.
First, I have to say that I wasn't expecting such an experience !
ReplyDeleteMy first impression wasn't very good because Museum of Me has the right to do many things with my Facebook account and I don't like it. Facebook is just a way of staying connected with people I don't see very often, but I am very discrete about myself on Internet.
This application is very well designed and fluid, so it was a pleasure to look at it and very entertaining. But in reality, an exhibition about my life just freaks me out ! And I wouldn't show this to someone who doesn't know me in real life because for me it is too incomplete.
To conclude, very surprising and entertaining, I'm glad I now Know this application, but nothing more.
I wasn't really interested to do it at first, as I understood it would take all my facebook account details, and gather it on internet. I must say all these informations are quite personal, and I don't really like the idea of my life being spread out to everybody. But when I started the video, my point of view totally changed. The museum of me is really ludic, and well designed. Every information is organized, and it's really pleasant to see some pictures again! It gives a global view of we are, and I think it is really funny to see ourselves in a museum. I think it is still too personal to share it for professional purposes, but why not sharing it with friends!
ReplyDeleteThis application is really surprising, and very well designed!!
ReplyDeleteAt the beginning, I was sceptical on the concept. Creating a "museum of me", it seems to be narcissistic. Moreover, I was suspicious because it requires personal informations. But I was pleasantly surprised. Indeed, even if some elements do not reflect my "universe", it was a funny an entertaining experience.
Nevertheless, the choice of pictures or the association of some of them aren't always relevant.
I love the the ending phrase that says "Visualize Yourself" I think it explains the purpose of the application. The design is well done but the pictures and the words are so randomly selected. For the next step, the application should be able to customize so those who are interested to create their " Museum of me " they can express what they want to say and of course , visualize themselves the way they want it to be.
ReplyDeleteThis application has a good design and very nice presentation of all the issues. It was interessting to watch, but I dont agree that it represents me. I didnt really like the phrases they put and the video either.
ReplyDeleteProbably for those who spend more time on Facebook and put all their photos and participate in many different activities, The Museum of me can give a better picture of their personality.
I was quite surprised by this application, it's really amazing. The design is very impressive, it's just like i were visiting a museum of my social life.
ReplyDeleteThe processing is incredibly fast: in a few seconds, the application can show you a summary of your social links. At the same time, it's a little bit freaking thinking that all your social informations can be shared with anybody.
I really liked the last sequence that displayed my social network because it shows how many people it covers and thus how i could be linked to anybody in the world.
I wasn't expecting at all that the design of "the museum of me" was going to be so great! The different rooms are incredible too. It is too bad that you need to have Facebook to do it. I believe it is unuseful for myself and quite weird too but it could be a great present for a birthday or a couple's anniversary if you could choose the photos, the words, etc.
ReplyDeleteBut anyway, it's a great image of what social networks are and I'm going to invite everyone in my circle of friends and family to live this experience.
I think that title name "museum of me " is very attractive and the application is very well designed, especially in 3D. I like the concept of museum that present "who I am" through the exhibition.
ReplyDeleteAt first entry to the application ,I really wonder why this application aks many permissions to get our personnal information from facebook before getting through the website. Anyway, I finally enjoy seeing my exhibition untill the end.
Ok, this application is amazing and well-done. I was surprised when I discovered it, and it shows that nowadays you can ally new technologies and show off.
ReplyDeleteBut we should not be morally entitled to accept this kind of concept based on egoistic individualism.
Moreover, images are chosen by chance, so they can't represent our entire life which is not based on simple images posted on Facebook.
WOW Meseum of me is so cool. I was not expacting this kind of application at all. It is amazing what we can do today with a computer by linking a facebook page and make it live with a 3D video tour... Unfortunately, this museum tour is not that representative of me as the ap: "Social Memories" of Facebook...
ReplyDeleteMuseum of me is an interesting and a innovative application with a nice design and a lot of creativity anyway i find this application useless
ReplyDeleteIt's just scares me how facebook can save all my information...
ReplyDelete"Museum of me" is really an incredible and emotional application. Very well designed (3d).
ReplyDeleteHowever,it show you how well you can be exposed on the net via facebook.
But I will for sure, communicate this "museum of me" application to my friends and family.
A very original way to see all the aspects of our "facebook life" from the beginning, what we shared and with who... It reminds us how much information we can learn about people via this social network! And of course by suggesting this application "the museum of me", we can see that everybody is able to do it as we are all on facebook,I am still so surprised by the success of fb!
ReplyDelete"Museum of Me" is actually a modern and interesting application. I love the design and concept. The transitions are original and fun. However there should be music to the end. This application deserves to be known and shared.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing tool,
ReplyDeleteshowing you in two minutes you social network life; however that is a little bit scary, everyone is able to now evrything about you, the real question is do you want it or not?
I like it a lot, especially the layout of the presentation. social networks are even more frightening in tems of visibility. we should be more aware of the image we leave on the net.
ReplyDeleteVery amazing! I love it !! With a beautiful design and presentation. Just one word: ORI GI NAL ;-)
