This session addresses what tools to use to painlessly collect information, resources and other materials you will need for class work + your thesis.
Collection methods include:
- email news letters
- Google Alerts
- 'Follow' on Twitter
- RSS feeds
- Share in Google + Circles
Assignment - due date 05/11
The assignments demonstrate that you know how to use the tool +
are needed to validate the course.
- Sign up for a newsletter - choose any that you would like
- Set up a Google Alert
- Take a screenshot of your inbox - show both the newsletter + Alert
- Take a screenshot of your Twitter account, show that you are following someone
- Take a screenshot of your RSS feed headline. You can use your Gmail account, set up iGoogle and the homepage acts as a reader - you can see the feeds here.
- Save the screenshots as an image .jpg or .gif + upload them in your blog post
- When your post is complete, go to Google Plus NetLit class circle + post the link to the specific blog post.
Advanced - and fun to do...
- Go to Slideshare.net - set up an account using the Gmail account.
- Create a PPT of your screenshots and upload in Slideshare - but sure to put your name + date on the opening slide
- Go to 'embed' on the top navigation over your presentation
- Copy the code + paste in you blog post
